Apr 17, 2013 at 5:13 comment added Earthliŋ Demanding drinking water? I think it is quite difficult to produce drinking water from sea water. Salt is usually taken in through food and water is expected to be salt-free. You can certainly bathe in hot sea water and then rinse your body with fresh water. But to get rid of the salt content, you have to distil the water, which uses a lot of energy, especially when you are in need of large quantities.

Apr 17, 2013 at 4:35 comment added Earthliŋ Presuming you don't want to use sea water just at the beach, do you have the necessary infrastructure to build a pump? Also, for what do you need the water, other than in the kitchen and in the bathroom? Would it be possible to reduce the amount of water that every household uses? Are there periods, where the river carries more water than at other times?
